My name is Tasha Pool and I am an on location photographer serving the Greater Houston area. I specialize in birth photography, newborns, children and lifestyle family portraiture. I have recently added high school seniors to the mix as well.

I currently do all of my work on location; meaning I come to you! If you have a newborn, I will photograph them in your home or in a location of your choice up to 14 days. I can work with natural light if you have plenty of it in your home, I can set up studio lights if you have a space large enough to accomodate me or we can have a lot of fun and take your newborn outdoors with some lush greenery as a backdrop. Your choice!

Anything beyond the first 14 days are done with natural light only. I will only bring studio lighting for newborns. Babies, Children and families will be photographed in your home utilizing your natural environment as a backdrop. Or, we can go outdoors utilizing local parks, beaches or downtown urban environments for your images.

once upon a time.. i talked often of my “jewelry making friend”: amanda.  we dont hang out anymore.. and i miss her greatly.  however, she had a priority change back in the fall of last year.  she went back to work.  :(

we were stay at home mom friends..
you know, the kind that hung out while our kids were at school.. or got the kids together for park and snocones until our husbands got home and evening chaos began.

i remember when i went back to work full time a few years back.. and how difficult it was on all of my relationships.  your priorities just change.  BIG TIME.

so, when she went back to work.. i tried my hardest to not give her a hard time.. complain that i never saw her; etc.. because i remember how stressed out it used to make me.. trying to make everyone happy.

we email occasionally.. and i kept tabs on the fam all year through her son at school.

so, there is the history of why i dont talk about jewelry making friend amanda much anymore.

now, on to the title of the blog post.  even though i dont get to talk to her much.. i say many small prayers for her family throughout the day.  everytime they pop into my head.. i lift them up.

abby has a story.. a SCARY one… and i want to encourage all of you to pray for abby grace.

this is amanda’s beautiful daughter.. she turns 3 next month.. and boy.. has this last year been rough.  she will have brain surgery soon.. and i encourage you to all read about her diagnosis of chairi I at www.prayingforabbygrace.blogspot.com

a local bow maker has started making bows and picture frames as a fundraiser; and named it the abby grace collection!  she started this BEFORE brain surgery was for certain.. and was hoping to raise a little funds to help pay for all of the parking at the hospital.  it gets expensive….

now, there is a much greater need to help pay for co-pays, parking, eating while they live at the hospital once surgery rolls around; etc.

these are the two bows she is offering…

as well as the picture frame.

more details are on the blog.. and i hope each of you take the time to read Abby’s story and say a small prayer for her!

sadly, these twins are now 3 months old.  im a blog slacker.
i blogged their very pregnant momma about 3 months ago..a nd she was stunningly gorgeous.  so, of course her two very beautiful girls followed suit.

having never photographed twins before.. i was a little scared going into it.  rightfully so.  it was much harder than i imagined.  ironically, next week i have my first set of triplets.  all girls again.

they were so stinking cute.

the smallest one was soo sweet.  she did pretty much anything i wanted.. and cooperated fully.

the larger one was a little more sleepy.

but, oh so sweet they were.  mom has been a champ through it all.. having a 3 year old on top of twins.  she has been one busy momma.  makes me appreciate my crazy schedule a little more.. because adding 1 more to the mix is a little more than i think i could actually handle.

this little guy turned 2 years old a loooong time ago.  i cant believe i am JUST now posting this.  eek!

he was soo super cute.

we walked around the strand, and the surrounding streets and just captured him whereever he stopped.. it was FUN.

he was a big fan of the large chess set they have set up by the yaga cafe.

oh.  and he likes big trucks.  one was driving by at this moment.

then, we headed down the beach for a bit.  he was not such a fan of the sand/water.  but, he liked chasing birds.. which he is doing in this picture.

this series here was my favorite.  he loved the stairs.

this door we found was so rad.  so much detail work on it.

a couple of updates.  i did get some help.  i had A LOT of interest.. and i havent emailed each of you back personally yet.. i will though.  i still have over 500 emails in my inbox to catch up on.  it is a little ridiculous.  on my end.. not anyone else’s.

i needed someone close and who could work in the mornings.. i want to reclaim my evenings eventually and dont want to be doing any work in the evenings.  so far, she has helped 3 times this week and it has been GLORIOUS.  she is doing my ordering and packaging so far.. and freeing me up to do other things.  unfortunately, right now it has meant cleaning up behind my kids who are home for the summer so that the house is show ready.  that has been HARD.

but, we do have an interested party in the house.  we accepted their offer, we are in the negotiation/options period right now.  pray they buy our house.

we have put an offer in on the house we want.  we are just waiting to hear back whether they accept it or not.

anyway.. i am ALMOST caught up on editing.  i have 2 more client sessions to edit.. and then i can start on my personal stuff FINALLY.  i have pictures from April that i havent touched of my kids.

i am enjoying my month off from shooting.. of course i have a few things i have to photograph anyway.. like a senior who needs it done ASAP to meet a deadline.. and a set of TRIPLETS that were actually on the news yesterday if anyone watched it.  i am sooo excited about them.

we go on vaca soon too.. so we will soak up some sun in Myrtle Beach.  it is a good month.

until next time.

First: a little Homeshade biz.  I AM BUSY.  like.. super-mad-crazy busy.  and I LOVE IT.  i love meeting all of these new people.  i love getting to capture amazing memories of each family. but.. the back end of things are falling behind.  i am barely keeping my head above water to shoot and edit.. and still be a mom.  so.. things like email; ordering; packaging and blogging are falling behind as i try to juggle these things.

so.. i am looking to hire someone partime.  very part time.  maybe 8-10 hours a week.  you HAVE to be organized.  because; well.. i am just not.  and you know if you are organized or not.  you have to be for this though.. so that if i walk in and need something.. you will need a system in place so that i know what i am looking at.

you will answer email/ schedule sessions, place orders and package orders for me.  you will come to my home to do it.. and if you have a child or two.. that is fine.  they can come with as long as they are well behaved.

i am thinking about 8-10 hours a week.. just enough to keep me afloat.

you cannot be a photographer, or an aspiring photographer and you will sign a non-compete form saying you arent going to learn all my tricks and start a business.  LOL

email me at tasha@homeshadephotography.com if interested.

now.. the fun stuff:

so, back in March.. i do a portrait party for a repeat client at a park near her home.  while there, we see these 2 absolutely adorable little girls and strike up a convo with parents about how cute they are, were they twins; etc.  we watch them play.. then get back to picture taking.

then.. i show up for this session.. and mom says she wrote my name off of my car down that day and checked out my website.  awww.. thanks mom.  you are actually the very first client i have gotten from my car magnets that i keep on my car.

these 2 little girls are sooo stinking cute.  and impressive.  the weekend before, they had been in a surfing contest down in Galveston.  daddy is a surfer and he already has these 2 learning how.  i love it.

funny thing about this old house we met at.  the girls LOVE cinderella and were sure that Cinderella lived there.  they kept knocking on the door; anticipating her coming out.  it was sooo stinking cute.

is this not one of those picture perfect families?  i loved them!

then, we headed to the park to play for a little bit.. that is always so much fun!

this picture is the epitomy of childhood joy.

and of course.. you know me.  i HAD to dress them up in pettis.

off topic: our house is STILL up for sale.  we reallly want to sell soon.  we have found the PERFECT house that we want.. and we make an offer on it until ours sells.  ugh.

when our harddrive crashed.. my tax returns went with it.  so.. we have a request in for the IRS to get new ones.. but until we have them.. we cant add my income to the loan.. and with michael’s alone.. we just cannot carry two mortgages.  so.. pray that our house sells FAST.  please.  all of you. we REALLY want this other house.
